Our Story

For over 50 years, the Alabama State Association of Cooperatives (ASAC) has been a beacon of collaboration and community. Founded in 1972 as part of the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund, ASAC has grown to represent 15 diverse cooperatives and associate members, serving approximately 5,000 individuals across the state. Our membership includes agricultural cooperatives, artisans, credit unions, and more, all united by a shared commitment to cooperative values. Together, we empower local producers, artisans, and communities to build a brighter future through collective action and mutual support. From quilts to community development, land management to credit unions, ASAC's member cooperatives are weaving a tapestry of resilience and prosperity across Alabama. Join us in building a better tomorrow, one cooperative at a time.
